So this is a quick look back on that first week home with the gnomies back at grandma and grandpa’s house.
As the Fake Snow and Erupting Snow was so successful, I thought I’d try making Snow Dough! I found this recipe on The Imagination Tree
Recipe for Snow Dough:
2 cups corn starch (corn flour in Australia)
1/3 to 1/2 of a cup vegetable oil
3-4 tablespoons silver glitter
I tried 1/2 cup of oil this time and found it too oily and yellow. Might try less and maybe a lighter sort of oil.
[You can also use baby oil, which makes it smell and feel even nicer, but do NOT use with under 3s or any child who may put it in their mouth as it is dangerous if ingested. We stick to vegetable oil just in case!]
Now I have added a little bit of peppermint oil. It made it smell even more wintery! LOVE. Again, I should warn you that you’ll have to be careful with little ones who’d be tempted to ingest this. You can always substitute sprinkles with edible cake sprinkles! Or substitute peppermint oil with edible essence like vanilla or rose water! YUM
My youngest is only 20 months old and she didn’t try to eat it. Just keep a close eye on them and don’t let them rub their eyes and put it in their mouths!
I bought this peppermint body oil from Sprouts. Just add sparkles! My kids are huge fans of Frozen at the moment…hence the Frozen related colours!
I covered a plastic container just tall enough for the grommies to use as a play table. I covered it with some aluminum foil and put down a plastic tablecloth underneath to keep things clean!
Grandma also found some beautiful Xmas copper cookie cutters for the kiddies to cut and mold with.
SAHM day 2 with gingerbread village decorating!! Only $9?!?! From Target pre-baked and came with all the necessary ingredients. Kids loved it. Well….Ne loved eating it..
I saw two different types of pre-baked sets for $9. One was for a bigger gingerbread house and the other was with a little village! The village idea won out as we have two little eaters…er…I mean decorators!
The “before” shot
Hmm…less eating and more decorating N!!
Well that lasted two seconds…
